1987 - Jarrett Sharp entered the family business and two years later, in 1989, LaFollette Machine was one of the first companies in Tennessee to install a CO2 laser. The emphasis shifted to the manufacture of laser cut parts. Today -The company is still owned and operated by the Sharp family and services the automotive, aerospace, appliance, electronics, energy and sign industries.
1936 - Established by J. Minton Sharp as the Motor Grinding Co., the business grew servicing the coal industry in heavy equipment repair, manufacturing mine fans and assembly work. In the early 1950's, the name was changed to LaFollette Machine & Tool Company. 1962 - Gerald "Jerry" Sharp joined and began manufacturing repair blocks for Caterpillar roller frames and building tipples. J. Minton Sharp retired in 1977, and the company incorporated focusing on warranty work for dozers and highlifts.
